A New Leadership Chapter for CIC
The Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at New York University (NYU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paul Smoke as Acting Director. Professor Smoke, a globally recognized expert in public finance, governance, and international development, has a distinguished career spanning academia, policy, and advisory roles. He is a Professor of Public Finance and Planning at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where his work focuses on decentralization, fiscal reform, and the governance of public services. His expertise and leadership will guide CIC during this pivotal transition.
CIC also announced that Ambassador Martin Kimani has stepped down as Executive Director. Ambassador Kimani’s leadership over the past months has been deeply valued, and the CIC community is honored that he will continue to support the organization as a Distinguished Fellow. In this advisory role, he will provide strategic guidance and contribute his extensive expertise to CIC’s ongoing mission.
As CIC enters this next phase, the organization reaffirms its commitment to fostering cooperative approaches among governments, international organizations, and the broader policy community to prevent crises and build a more peaceful, just, and inclusive world.
