An Evidence-Based Tool for Smarter Policy & Action (Prototype)
Preventing Armed Violence Tool: Data Analysis for Policy Decisions
The data collected can be analyzed to generate insights that inform policy decisions, for instance:
- Exploring how risk and protective factors may vary by age and by gender
- Identifying similarities and differences in risk and protective factors across violent extremism/terrorism and intra-state conflict
- Identifying and including indicators in monitoring and evaluation efforts
- Debunking assumptions about specific risk and protective factors
- Understanding differences in the risk and protective factors for the onset, spillover, and recruitment
CIC has already produced some of these analyses, including:
- Understanding risk and protective factors through a gender-lens →
- Exploring the overlap between violent extremism and intra-state conflict →
- Identifying overlooked avenues for prevention* →
- Understanding how risk and protective factors can be used to assess prevention impact →
*This includes, for example, the prevention of recruitment into non-state armed groups
