DRC: billions lost by the State following customs exemptions

This Actualite.cd article features the new Congo Research Group report on customs exemptions in the DRC.

“More than 630 million dollars per year between 2011 and 2020 was lost by the State because of customs exemptions…In total, these exemptions caused a loss of revenue of at least US$6.3 billion to the state coffers during the period covered by the study, which also indicates that in the mining sector alone, these exemptions for mining companies amounted to $2.8 billion between 2011 and 2020.”
