As Troops Withdraw from Afghanistan, the UN Needs to Act

CIC senior fellow Hanny Megally co-authors an article with Chris Sidoti and Yasmin Sooka to call upon the U.N. Human Rights Council to establish an independent international investigation into human rights atrocities in Afghanistan.

“We call on the Human Rights Council to urgently convene a Special Session on the human rights situation in Afghanistan and the ongoing human rights violations. We owe at least this to the people of Afghanistan, especially the children who want education, the young people who want a future, and the older people who want to live out their lives in peace.”
