Markus Kostner is a Senior Fellow at the New York University’s Center on International Cooperation (CIC).
Markus has worked for over 30 years on fragility and conflict, violence prevention, crisis response, and social development in Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Among others, he was the World Bank team leader for several community-driven development projects and demobilization and reintegration projects, participated in various (post-) crisis assessments and responses, and led research into the social impacts of natural disasters. Markus was a core team member for the World Development Report 2011: Conflict, Security and Development, and the World Bank’s Global Lead on Stability, Peace, and Security.
He holds an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
