United Nations High-Level Political Forum 2024

The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held from Monday, 8 July, to Wednesday, 17 July 2024, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from Monday, 15 July, to Wednesday, 17 July 2024 as part of the High-level Segment of the Council. The last day of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC will be on Thursday, 18 July 2024.

The theme will be “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.

SDG16: Accelerating Progress to Achieve Justice for Children–Leveraging Innovations to Close the Justice Gap

The event aims to:

  • Leverage knowledge of practice and systems innovations across regions and contexts, to accelerate progress to achieve justice for children .
  • Shine a spotlight on national government leadership action on children’s justice issues, to promote a strategic, collaborative approach across governments and civil society.
  • Inform the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s emergent General Comment No. 27, by contributing access to justice game-changers.

Using the Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) to advance SDG16 and its interlinkages across the 2030 Agenda

This VNR Lab will unpack the VNR as an important tool to support action on SDG16, examine how countries and partners have used the VNR process (pre- and post-HLPF) to advance SDG16 at national and sub-national levels, reinforce/scale its interlinkages across the SDGs, and highlight its role in strengthening resilience for future crises.

Intergenerational Dialogue: Young People as Catalysts for SDG16
