CIC Research Program Assistant

The NYU Center on International Cooperation (CIC) is looking for a graduate student to support its Pathfinders, Inequality and Exclusion program for the Spring 2025 semester, with possible extension through Summer 2025 with a time commitment of 20 hours per week.

This position is in support of the Inequality Solutions Portal. The Inequality Solutions portal is a one-stop public resource of applied, well-researched global policies driving progress towards a more equitable and inclusive world. From solidarity taxes in Uruguay to housing solutions in New Zealand—the portal’s mission is to inspire policy innovation and push the bounds of possibility in creating more equitable and inclusive societies for present and future generations. The individual will be responsible for identifying, researching and writing case studies on successful examples of policies that reduce inequality and exclusion from around the world.

New York University’s Center on International Cooperation has, over two decades, built a reputation for its work on the links between politics, security, justice, and sustainable development. Our core mission is to enhance international responses on the countries and issues most important to conflict prevention and recovery, through direct and regular engagement with multilateral institutions and the wider policy community.

The Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies brings together 39 UN member states, and over 100 partners including international organizations, civil society, global partnerships, and the private sector who are committed to accelerating the delivery and implementation of the SDG targets for peace, justice, and inclusion (SDG16+). The Pathfinders launched the Roadmap for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies at the UN General Assembly in September 2017 and updated it in July 2019. The roadmap provides a shared vision for how SDG16+ can be delivered. It also identifies a limited number of high-profile ‘grand challenges’ that require sustained leadership and support if SDG16+ is to be achieved. In these areas Pathfinders aims to set policy and learning agendas, raise ambition and increase political will. The Pathfinders Grand Challenges include the Grand Challenge on Justice for All, the Grand Challenge on Inequality and Exclusion, and the Grand Challenge to Halve All Forms of Global Violence by 2030.
