Hanny Megally, CIC senior fellow and member of the Commissioner on the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria, co-authored this op-ed in Le Monde explaining why the international community must commit to repatriating children detained in Syrian camps.
“Since mid-2019, nearly 5,000 Syrian children have been released from camps to communities in the northeast of the country, following “sponsorship” agreements with local tribes. A thousand foreign children have also been released and brought home. However, most foreign children remain deprived of their liberty, as their own countries refuse to repatriate them.”
