Dr. Peter J. Hoffman is a Non-Resident Fellow at the NYU Center on International Cooperation (CIC).
An independent researcher with 25 years of experience as a scholar and policy analyst, his work focuses on the United Nations (UN) and global governance, peace and security, military affairs, and the international humanitarian system.
He is also a Senior Fellow at the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies (RBIIS) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), co-editor of the Global Forum section of the journal Global Governance, and a member of the Expert Group on the Roadmap for Collective Security and Disarmament.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous civil society organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and UN entities. These include the Stimson Center, Global Women Leaders, Global Policy Forum, the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN Relief and Works Agency, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC).
As a professor, Dr. Hoffman taught at the New School for Social Research, where he also served as Director of Graduate Programs in International Affairs, and at Bryn Mawr College and Hunter College.
