Panel 2: Updating and Upgrading Existing Institutions

The UN Charter has within it a number of institutions which have served the well-being of humanity for generations. Yet, as with any system, change is inevitable and beneficial. This session will look at the institutions created in the Charter and how they can be modernized to better meet the needs of humanity today. Speakers will share their thoughts on the treatment of existing Institutions in the new Charter and what benefits would accrue from the various modifications. This session will look at the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice and the issue of collective security mechanisms.
