Kiwako TanakaSenior Research Fellow, Visiting Scholar
Dr. Kiwako Tanaka is a senior research fellow of the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS), Ministry of Defense, Japan and visiting scholar at New York University, Center on International Cooperation (NYU-CIC). Her main research interests include non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) to non-state actors, dual-use technology control, arms transfer, conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Prior to joining the NIDS in 2013, she served as an advisor to the Permanent Representation of Japan to the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague from 2005 to 2008, to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva from 2009 to 2011, as well as to the Secretariat of the International Peace Cooperation Headquarters, Cabinet Office of Japan from 2011 to 2013. She obtained Ph.D. in Public Administrations from the International Christian University, Tokyo.
