Solidarity tax could fund post-COVID-19 recovery
This article in The Namibian mentions a recent Pathfinders paper by Attiya Warris, on how solidarity tax could help fund economic recovery after COVID-19.
"Unlike normal taxes, solidarity taxes are levied mainly as a team spirit-funding initiative to mitigate the effects of a crisis, as well as the rebuilding of nations.
These taxes have been successful in countries such as Germany in rebuilding their economy after wars, and in Zimbabwe to fund HIV-AIDS programmes."
