Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies: Towards a Roadmap for delivering the SDG16+ targets

A Retreat at the Greentree Foundation, 16-17 November 2016

This two-day retreat brought together senior decision-makers and thought leaders to begin the work of building a roadmap for accelerating delivery of the targets for peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

The event was co-hosted by Brazil, Switzerland, Canada, Qatar, South Korea, Timor-Leste, and Tunisia. The following member states were also represented: Argentina, Colombia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Indonesia, Netherlands, Korea, Sri Lanka, and the UK.

International organizations, global partnerships, civil society networks, foundations, and the private sector also participated in the retreat, based on their commitment to playing a leadership role in the implementation of the targets for peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

The retreat provided an opportunity for a small group to engage in an intense debate about strategic priorities for the implementation of Agenda 2030 commitments to peace, justice and inclusion. It began the work of uniting key partners around a roadmap and action platform that will accelerate delivery and guide more effective partnerships and collaboration.

The roadmap will build consensus around strategic priorities for data, evidence, delivery and movement building. Transformative actions at national and local, and regional and global levels will be required to tackle the challenges for peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
